Lobster Roll Recipe

Updated: Mar 12, 2021

A few years on a trip to Maine visiting family, we ordered lobster rolls which were just amazing; the meat was sweet and melt in your mouth tender with a hint of saltiness. Recently, a friend surprised us when he sent us a few lobsters from Maine. I wanted to make a simple dressing for the lobster meat that enhanced the flavor without overpowering it.

Ingredients:

  • 2 (1.5 lb each) fresh lobster

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/2 teaspoon horseradish

  • salt and pepper

  • brioche rolls

  • 2 heads of broccoli florets

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Yield: serves 4

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 25 minutes

Method:

  1. In a big pot, boil water.

  2. Add the lobster, and cook for 10 min. Remove, plunge into an ice bath. When cool enough to handle, remove meat from the shell. Cut into 1 inch pieces, add salt, and pepper. Set aside.

  3. In a bowl, mix the mayonnaise with the Worcestershire sauce, and horseradish.

  4. Add the lobster meat. Place in the refrigerator until you steam the broccoli.

  5. Boil water in a pot with some salt. Add the broccoli florets.

  6. Cook for 7 minutes. Remove from the boiling water, and plunge into ice bath for 3 minutes (to stop the cooking) .

  7. With a slotted spoon remove the broccoli from the cold water. Place in a bowl, and add soy sauce and sesame seeds.

  8. Remove lobster from refrigerator.

  9. Place inside the sliced brioche roll, and serve with the broccoli on the side.
